Laura Davis Prepares Ascension Catholic School Students for Success With Enriching Technology Class

As technology skills become more important in our society, it’s my hope that my students leave Ascension able to approach any technology situation with the knowledge to make safe choices and the skill and persistence to overcome any challenge.
— Laura Davis

“What I love about working at a Catholic school is that we are bonded together in more than just a place to work and learn,” Mrs. Davis says. “There is an atmosphere of hope and perseverance that permeates the hallways, and a sense of support and commitment with a community of help standing ready.”

Your child receives a well-rounded education at our Brevard private schools that integrates core academic requirements as well as enriching courses in religion, fine arts, foreign language, physical education, and technology.

At Ascension Catholic School in Melbourne, Mrs. Laura Davis teaches students essential digital literacy and technology skills as the Computers & Technology Teacher. These skills are critical in helping young learners navigate and thrive in a technology-driven world while preparing them for future success.

A former Ascension student, Mrs. Davis is equally passionate about incorporating faith formation, character growth, and moral development in her warm, inviting, and interactive classroom.

A Lifelong Member of the Ascension Catholic School Community

After traveling at a young age due to her father being in the Air Force, Mrs. Davis and her family settled down in Melbourne, Florida. She and her siblings soon began attending Ascension Catholic School.

For Mrs. Davis, the academic excellence and faith formation at Ascension helped ready her for higher education while also teaching her how to overcome challenges.

“Ascension has been my home since I was in second grade,” she says. “The academic rigor there prepared me not only for high school and college, but for thriving in the workforce. The experiences of deep faith also prepared me to face the challenges life throws at me with perseverance, fortitude, and hope.”

Inspired by her Catholic education, Mrs. Davis later returned to Ascension Catholic School as a teacher. She is now in her 14th year of teaching and has enrolled her own daughter at Ascension.

“What I love about working at a Catholic school is that we are bonded together in more than just a place to work and learn,” she says. “There is an atmosphere of hope and perseverance that permeates the hallways, and a sense of support and commitment with a community of help standing ready.”

Teaching Students How to Navigate a Tech-Driven World

As a Computers & Technology Teacher, Mrs. Davis creates a fun, collaborative environment where students learn important computer skills and better understand how to navigate digital media and technology.

“The lessons and topics we discuss in class relate directly to challenges students work through in their daily lives,” she says. “That real-life connection is so important to ensure students are fully engaged in the content.”

Her class involves a lot of paired sharing and collaborative work. She also gives students the opportunity to choose how they want to approach certain assignments and topics.

In addition to teaching important technology skills, Mrs. Davis also believes her classroom is a place to celebrate faith, build students’ confidence, and impart moral values.

“I hope  my students leave my classroom knowing that they are loved, capable, and unique, with a confidence to help them succeed in their future endeavors,” she says.
